Big Javorník

Big Javorník

Municipality: Velký Javorník

The Big Javorník observation tower on a hill of the same name sits at 918 meters above sea level and was conceived as a wooden structure in the style typical for the local Frenštát-Rožnov architecture. It is vertically divided into nine floors, with the first floor lined in the style of Wallachian timbered buildings and housing the operations room. The total height of the tower is 25.915 meters and it has two observation decks – the first one at a height of 15.295 meters and the second one at 20.245 meters above the surrounding terrain.
The tower offers beautiful views of the Frenštát Valley, the massif of the dominant mountains of the Beskydy up to Lysá hora, Ondřejník, Poodří, Štramberk, Veřovice Hills, and when the weather is good, up to Little and Big Fatra, Roháč and the Belan Tatra Mountains in the east and the Jeseníky Mountains with Praděd to the northwest. The highest terrace contains panoramic panes for ease of orientation.
The tower should be open year round, but it may happen that the observation point is closed for a certain period, for example, in winter when there is a large amount of ice or snowfall. Admission is free.
