Hukvaldy Castle

Partner Beskydy Card

The castle is located not far from Frýdek-Místek and consists today of the rooms of a Gothic castle that was built between the years 1257 and 1285. The castle is surrounded by a game reserve that is often the destination of visitors to the birthplace of composer Leoš Janáček (1854-1928). Mufflon and fallow deer can often be seen in the reserve. Hukvaldy is a major cultural landmark and plays host every year to various events like the Knights Pageantry, Meeting of Spirits and many others. The castle also includes a summer amphitheater with superb acoustics, just right for regularly staging the international music festival of Janáček Hukvaldy.

ŠTRAMBERK TOWER

Partner Beskydy Card

Štramberk Castle was founded in the late 13th century after the division of the domains belonging to the Hückeswagen clan. In the 16th century the castle had already been abandoned and was in dilapidated condition. Today all that remains are the fortifications and gothic castle tower called Trúba, which rises above the city of Štramberk and serves as an observation platform with a beautiful view of the Beskydy Mountains.
