Wallachian Open Air Museum

Under the Wallachian sky bordered with the bank of the Rožnov Bečva and Rožnov, you can find a materialized dream of the Jaroněk Brothers who came up with the vision of preserving the Wallachian architecture, traditions and art almost a hundred years ago.

The Wallachian Open Air Museum has focused on log constructions documenting the architecture of small Wallachian towns and villages since 1930s. You can learn about the agricultural and craft production of our ancestors and in particular – you can experience folk customs, music, dance and works of art in its premises.

The reality has certainly surpassed the ideas of its founders.

The wooden town they founded as well as the Wallachian Year Fest held in these premises since their times have been continuously developed and supplemented by new projects.

The newly created museum premises of the 1960s and 1980s show the life picture of our ancestors.

The Wallachian Village is a reconstruction of the society and life of farmers and shepards.  The Mill Valley will introduce you with a simple technology used by craftsmen – mill men, sawyers, fullers and hammer mill workers.

By strolling among log houses, farms and workshops you can spend a day when the time slows down, when you feel the odour of freshly cut grass and hear the bells of sheep from the pasture.

And just at that time a melody of a Wallachian band may grasp you or you will like to taste some of the Wallachian meals. Then it is necessary to hurry up to the scene where temperament dancers dance or to a historic pub.

Don´t let it slip!
